(Oslo, 19. April 2017) Relacom’s technology infrastructure has been thoroughly renewed and modernised as part of the company’s migration to EVRY’s new cloud centre, which is located in EVRY’s data centre in Fet. The data centre’s world-class environmental technology will also halve Relacom’s greenhouse gas emissions.
Relacom is a leading independent provider of technical services and strategic solutions in telecoms, energy and the internet of things. The company’s vision is to be the preferred service partner in technical infrastructure in the Nordics. The technology upgrade that EVRY has now delivered has given Relacom solid foundations, and in the time ahead the company will be able to accelerate its transition to modern cloud services.
Greater capacity and flexibility
EVRY has migrated Relacom’s entire production platform to EVRY’s new date centre in Fet without any adverse incidents or impact on its day-to-day operations. One result of the comprehensive migration is that all Relacom’s servers have been upgraded and virtualised. The successful migration was the result of close collaboration between the applications team, the customer’s system owners and the team from IBM.
“The production environment for our applications servers, Citrix platform, and AX solution and databases has been migrated. Everything went in accordance with the agreed plan, and the migration was thoroughly planned and very well executed”, comments Finn Fauske, IT Manager at Relacom.
The customer’s testing and development environment was migrated in November 2016 100% successfully, and its other infrastructure was also migrated entirely as planned in March 2017. Another benefit enjoyed by Relacom as a result of moving its services to the new data centre is that it now has a modern technology platform that uses the most environmentally friendly technology available. EVRY’s data centre in Fet has a PUE of 1.15, which means Relacom’s greenhouse gas emissions are now half what they were before.
“Relacom’s technology platform was migrated and updated following carefully planned work that was carried out systematically in accordance with our best practice. Thanks to EVRY’s new cloud centre in Fet, Relacom’s technology infrastructure is robust, flexible and capable of accommodating future opportunities in digitalisation”, comments Ole Gunnar Aastad, SVP for EVRY’s T&T program (pictured).
